Sarah responds intuitively to the landscape, seeking to capture the elemental nature of a place rather than to record a literal interpretation. At times, she focuses on small details, such as a single flower; at others, she captures the entire landscape.
Sarah’s paintings are bursting with energy and life force. Dynamic, gestural mark-making creates movement and rhythm. Like notes on a score, Sarah hand-draws her story onto the canvas. Pops of colour punctuate layers of paint, which, like patina, have been built up and scraped back over time.
